2020-21Temporary Rule Changes

Post by Big M Bob » Sat Jan 02, 2021 8:41 am

Since there is a good chance of sudden game changes and players changes we are going to alter a few of our rules for this season only.

1. The threshold for ranking players is reduced from 10 games to 8 because of the shorter season.

2. The same thing for the maximum number of games farm players can be used before they are permanently called up. It's now 7 games instead of 9. Use a farm player in 8 games in January or the end of the season and they can never be sent back to the farm.

3. We are getting rid of the reserve list for this season. We will still draft 23 skaters at the auction and use our cash on them but the in season roster will expand to 28 skaters with no reserve list. The 28 skaters will still have to fit under the $95 salary cap. If a player suffers a serious injury requiring them to be put on the injured list you are allowed to place them on reserve so that their salary doesn't count against your max and they must stay on reserve for at least 7 days. If a player is on reserve then you will only be allowed to have 27 skaters. The purpose of allowing a player on reserve is to allow a team to replace an important player via trade if that player has a serious injury. It isn't so that a team can juggle their roster to keep below the cap.

When the rosters expand at the end of the season and for the playoffs we will be allowed to add up to 3 farm players for each game. Those farm players will have to fit under the salary cap. Farm players can be moved freely back and forth from the active roster to the farm but no more than 3 farm players can be used in any game. During the expanded roster period that means you can have your 28 regular skaters and 3 farm players for a game but they must all fit under $95 and you can't send players to reserve to create salary space to allow you to use a farm player.

4. We're going to have a "Taxi Squad" for each game that will automatically replace any player who is in your lineup who doesn't dress that game.

In the AHL forum each team will have their own taxi squad thread where they will rank their entire roster and we will use that ranking for replacing players. If you want to do something different for a game you can make a game specific post with your replacement order for that game. Replacement players will be slotting behind the players already in your lineup for shootout purposes. Forwards behind the last listed forward and defense listed behind the last listed dman.

Additions and clarifications to the temporary rule changes.

After getting feedback this change make sense.

The in season cap will be $95 since our active roster has gone from 26 to 31 spots.
